Kenneth Johnson, a 31-year veteran of the Dougherty County Police Department (DCPD), has been appointed to replace long time chief, Jackie Battle, who retired June 7th. Chief Johnson joined the force in 1988 as Patrolman and has since served in various positions including: Patrol Sergeant, Detective Division Lieutenant, Narcotics Lieutenant/Investigator, Detective Division Commander and most recently, Assistant Chief.
“My mission is to ensure the Dougherty County Police Department is a dedicated and diverse group of professionals who are committed to working with the community to make Dougherty County a safe and desirable place to live, work or visit,” said Johnson. “My goal is to partner with the community to solve problems and improve public safety in a manner that is fair, impartial, transparent and consistent.”
